this book is divided into 4 chapters: question types, non-academic subjects, academic subjects, and practice test.chapter 1 covers 6 question types which are often found in the toefl junior reading test: main idea, purpose, inference, reference, word meaning, and detail. each type of questions introduces typical questions, test-taking strategies, and a sample.chapter 2 introduces non-academic subjects including e-mails and letters, notices and announcements, and stories. each subject focuses on an introduction to a particular text type together with a practice set providing learners with 4 reading passages and each of which is followed by a number of comprehension questions. lastly, at the end of each text type, a vocabulary list coupled with related exercises is given for practice.chapter 3 presents 9 academic subjects which are astronomy, biology, archeology, sport, architecture, geography, celebrities, humanities, and life. unlike chapter 2, each subject in this chapter just provides a practice set that is comprised of a number of short passages followed by a series of questions which are typical of those in an actual test.chapter 4 provides a practice test which, firstly, helps learners familiarize themselves with the format of the actual toefl junior reading test and, secondly, checks their progress after using the book.
